About us

 

Bethel-Maidstone United Church is a welcoming, vibrant congregation. Although our ages vary from young families to seniors, the majority of our congregation is senior - but very active seniors! We gather together each Sunday at 10am to Worship and to Praise our God! Our Worship Services include everyone by sharing in readings, prayers, and singing hymns (both Old Gospel Hymns and New Inspiring Music). Our talented Choir also sing Anthems each Sunday to add to our worship experience. Our Sunday School is led by caring and talented leaders, who share their faith each Sunday. The Sunday School children join us for our Opening Worship and then, following the Children's Time,  go to Simpkins Hall for their time together. 

 

WORSHIP is first in our list of priorities. Worship inspires us to grow in our faith and to go out into the world to live our faith each day! We also share in Coffee Hour and Fellowship following the Service each Sunday. Please join us!

 

FELLOWSHIP is also a top priority! Coffee Hours, Lunches, Dinners, Special Dessert Evenings - yes we love our food and enjoy sharing together! Our Stewards and our UCW (United Church Women) plan most of these events. However, the past couple of years we have been planning events together at Planning Meetings. These meetings are held every six months, and give the opportunity for everyone to share ideas and to help plan new events. Sign-up sheets allow everyone to be part of one or all of our activities. It's a great way to be inspired to come up with new projects and to get everyone involved. So come and share your talents! It's fun to be part of such an enthusiastic congregation!

 

OUTREACH is another one of our top priorities. Our Outreach Committee is very active. We are blessed to be able to reach out and support so many worthwhile projects. Approximately 25% of our donations are sent to Outreach Projects. These include Essex Food Bank, Windsor Downtown Mission, Iler Lodge, GessTwood Camp, Hiatus House, Canadian Food Grains Bank, Christian Blind Mission, Sleeping Children Around the World, Haiti Mission Project, M&S of the United Church of Canada.  Other support is given as the need arises.
